Raymond Hains (1926 - 2005)
Biography
Raymond Hains was born in Saint-Brieuc, France in 1926 and died in 2005. He lived and worked in Paris and Nice. He was a founding member of the New Realism movement. He became known for his pile works and torn posters, which he kept in metal frames or transferred to canvas. Hains followed an unusual artistic path centered on word games, hypnagogic photographs (with glass fragments), associations of ideas and found objects.
