Patrick Roger (1968 - )
Biography
Patrick Roger, born July 9, 1968 in Poislay in the Loiret-Cher, is a French chocolate sculptor.
Patrick Roger is one of those outsiders, off the beaten track, he creates his own trace. Coming from nowhere and therefore from everywhere. No museum before the age of 24, no drawing classes and even less Fine Arts, it is simply called an innate gift.
He started working with chocolate in sculpture in the 2000s. A love of instinctive aesthetics. An insolent mastery of the material, pushes him to create again and again, always faster.
To tame the ephemeral black gold and make it an eternal metal. Through his works, Patrick Roger bears witness to the world around us. Of his vision of this world sometimes crazy, sometimes sensitive, sometimes cruel. Of what touches him, what animates him, those he loves...
Each piece is imbued with emotions, first the look, then the touch. The prerogative of chocolate as the primary matrix, without a doubt. Patrick Roger is the only sculptor who uses chocolate as his master material.
The result is a unique texture of the works. Smooth, rough, stratified, the material has as much state as mood. In order to transcribe as well as possible these singular particularities, Patrick Roger works only with the best foundries, without dead ends on the result... as always.
