Jean-Luc Le Mounier (1976 - )
Biography
Jean-Luc Le Mounier was born in Bretagne in 1976. He spent much of his childhood in his grandfather's carpenter workshop, where he discovered woodworking and developed a passion for building small objects.
He set up his workshop in 2003 in his native region, near Dinard, after eight years spent on the Tour de France training to become a Compagnon de Devoir. He began creating exceptional furniture and collaborating with a number of leading designers, including the illustrious Maria Pergay, who pushed him to the limits of his creativity.
Since 2010, Jean-Luc Le Mounier has devoted himself entirely to his own creations. His inspiration comes from nature, architecture and fashion, which he has admired for years.
Each composition reveals a certain audacity and sensitivity. Behind each creation is an idea, a story, often drawn from his home region, encounters or vacation memories. However intimate his ideas, his primary aim is to provoke wonder. For him, a project is only truly successful when his audience is able to explain how they feel when they see the work.
In a subtle blend of tradition and modernity of exceptional quality, each piece is executed by his masterful hand. Using rare essences, precious and avant-garde materials, and increasingly complex techniques, Jean-Luc's works are both surprising and seductive. Each composition offers a unique harmony that reveals the artist's boldness and sensitivity.
His work has been exhibited several times at Design Miami /Basel, PAD London, PAD Paris, PAD Genève, at the Art + Design Fair in New York, at Collectible Bruxelles, and as part of the AD Collections exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris. Since 2017, Jean-Luc Le Mounier's studio has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label by the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance.
